Our Staff

Diane R. Eigner, V.M.D.

Diane is a 1980 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  Establishing the hospital was her life long dream.  She is a Past-President of the American Association of Feline Practitioners  (AAFP) and is also a Past-President of the University of Pennsylvania's Veterinary Alumni Board.  Diane serves on the Advisory Board of Harcum Junior College's Veterinary Technician Program and is the Consulting Veterinarian for the Morris Animal Refuge.  Committed to feline medicine, she attends over 30 hours of continuing education annually and was a fellow of the Academy of Feline medicine when it existed.  Dr. Eigner was just appointed to be the American Association of Feline Practioner's representative to the 2009 Board of Directors of the CATalyst council (www.catalystcouncil.org). Dr. Eigner will be the Chair of the CATalyst Council board of directors in 2010.  She lives above the hospital with her husband, Fred Turoff, the Head Coach of Temple University's men's gymnastics team.  Her son Evan enjoys the family's two new Cornish Rex kittens, Naui and Padi, Velvet, their Sphynx cat, their Welsh Corgi, Twinks, and their leopard gecko, red-tail boa constrictor and Russian tortoise.

She continued on as a Veterinary Assistant at a feline hospital all through high school and while at college at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She was the President of the feline club at Penn and in her senior year she received the Feline Medicine and Surgery Prize from the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Student Government Award for Patient Care. Client Care Providers

When you enter the hospital you will be greeted by our Client Care Providers. These are the members of our team that will take care of setting up your appointments and reminding you when to visit. These wonderful people up front are part of the heart and soul of our organization.
Chase Parnell
Front Desk Supervisor

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Chase moved to Philadelphia and began working at the Cat Doctor in September 2005. She will be returning to college in March, where she plans to complete her degree and pursue her interest in aeronautical mechanics. Chase currently resides in South Philadelphia with her cats Alice and Rocks. An advocate for equal rights, Chase volunteers for Equality Advocates and participates in petitions for animal protection. She's also an amatuer painter, drum player and Rockband superstar.

Helen

Helen is one of the friendly folks at the front desk who helps you schedule appointments and get prescription refills, along with answering your queries and assisting the doctors with client communications. With over 10 years of experience in veterinary hospitals, she is attuned to the intricate bond between man and beast and tries to make trips to the vet as pleasant for both parties as possible. She is tempted on a daily basis to bring our housecat, Diamond, home but is fairly confident that her "nighttime" cat, Toni D, would not appreciate this gesture.

Lori

Lori has been working in the veterinary field since 1997, and at The Cat Doctor since 2004. When she’s not making appointments, answering questions for clients, squeezing Sadie against her will, following staff members or cats around with her camera, or helping chubby kitties become feline supermodels, Lori co-runs a non-profit cat rescue. She shares her life and home with a wonderful partner, two rambunctious pitbulls, and several spoiled cats.

Sharon Sabatini

Sharon has always been an animal lover and caretaker, so when she heard word of a position opening at the front desk of The Cat Doctor, she jumped at the opportunity. Sharon landed in Philadelphia a few years back after visiting and falling in love with the city. She and her partner are happily settled in West Philly with their family of one feisty feline and two canine kids: a red heeler mix named Cricket and a teeny chihuahua named Leroy. She and her partner also used to volunteer as foster parents for City Kitties and helped place many cats in permenant homes with loving families; their fostering career was ended when they adopted a particularly strong-willed kitty named Estelle Getty, who would likely devour any other cat she met.

Nursing Staff

Our nursing staff are behind the scenes performing lab tests, monitoring anesthesia, dispensing prescriptions, and nursing your cat when they stay with us.  These individuals have received special training to be able to answer any questions you may have and provide the best possible care for your cats.
They also provide compassion and care for your family member with the doctors in the exam room as well as when they board with us.  These are the team members that hold, hug, cuddle, feed, medicate, and love your pets while they are with us. The entire Cat Doctor team is dedicated to the health and well being of your cat.

Jennifer

Jennifer has been working at The Cat Doctor for over ten years. She attended Manor College in Jenkintown, PA, graduating from the Veterinary Technology program in 1997. Even after all these years, Jennifer loves her job as much as she did on her first day. Her favorite aspects of her job are caring for geriatric patients, radiology, and working in the diagnostics lab. She lives with a beautiful kitty named Charlotte, and will be bringing our handsome housecat Teddy home to stay with her in the next few months.

Miriam

Originally from New York, Miriam moved to Philadelphia in June of 2006. Ever since she was a little girl, she loved animals and knew she wanted a career working with them. She attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Miriam has worked as a veterinary technician since 2004. She joined The Cat Doctor crew in January of 2006, and has loved every second of her time here! Miriam shares her apartment with three extremely spoiled kitties: Sebastian, Vincent, and Duncan, and one very grumpy (but very cute!) bunny named Milton. At home with her parents in New York is her older gentlemen kitty Hector, whom she visits as often as she can.

Bethany

Bethany is a Pittsburgh native (and avid Steeler fan) who grew up in a family of animal enthusiasts.  Taking in every stray from the neighborhood, she learned to love and nurture animals from a very young age.  She volunteered for Cat Sense, Inc., a feline rescue organization, throughout high school and college. A graduate RN from the University of Pittsburgh, she is now devoted to helping our four-legged friends. Bethany works part-time at The Cat Doctor and attends post-baccalaureate classes at Penn. She also volunteers at PACCA and at Tri-State Bird Rescue.  She hopes to attend veterinary school in the near future.  Bethany shares custody of her handsome kitties, Hillard and Huxley, with her boyfriend.

Janel

Janel's love for animals has been lifelong. She has been a member of The Cat Doctor staff in some capacity for nearly five years. Before coming to The Cat Doctor, she worked for the Morris Animal Refuge. She worked here as a technician until her pregnancy, then joined the front desk staff and worked up until the week before her baby was born. What a trooper! Janel's family includes two dogs, a boxer named Buster and a pitbull mix named Sampson, two siamese-type kitties named Ayla and Ocie, a very fluffy longhaired kitty named Riley, and last (but not least) a new son named Noah. Janel hopes to raise Noah to have the same love for animals that she and Jed, her husband, do.
Jennica

Jennica's love for animals began at a young age. She lived in the British Virgin Islands for three years where she volunteered at the Tortola Humane Society. In 2003 she moved to Philadelphia to pursue her college career. She is graduating from Temple University in December of 2007 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. She has been working as a veterinary technician at The Cat Doctor for two and a half years and is planning on attending veterinary school in 2008.

When Jennica is not at school or working she enjoys cooking, cleaning, singing, traveling, reading, and playing board games. She shares her home with her 12 year old cat Purdy and her Pomeranian Adelaide
.

Monique Manns is a recent graduate of Harcum College's Animal Center Management program. She has had a passion for animal care since she was a young child, when she and her sister would find and nurse back to health every injured dog, cat, bird, and even squirrel they encountered. When Monique is not working as a technician here at The Cat Doctor, she's spending time with her human family and her crazy cat, Corin.
