About Us

thumbnail_CatdrLogosmallWelcome to our website! The Cat Doctor is a full service medical and surgical facility exclusively for cats. Established in 1983, in the Art Museum area, the hospital has served the Philadelphia community for over twenty years, providing excellent comprehensive and compassionate care. We feel it is a pleasure and privilege to care for your feline family members and will make every effort and attempt to ensure a positive experience for both you and your feline friend at our hospital.

Our Mission

We give our clients our best effort every day and we practice medicine as a form of friendship celebrating the special love of cats.

ACC_tRB_2The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is the only organization to accredit companion veterinary hospitals. We voluntarily sought and received a four year accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association.  AAHA accredited hospitals hold themselves to a higher standard. This means an expert regularly evaluates our practice so that we know we are always complying with veterinary care standards.   It also means you can be sure your cat is receiving the best possible care using the latest procedures and technology.  Cats are our passion, and keeping them healthy is our top priority. Only about 12% of animal hospitals in the U.S. and Canada are accredited by AAHA, and we’re proud to say that we’re one of them! We strive to deliver excellent care for pets. Why? Because your cats deserve nothing less.

The Cat Doctor is proud to be certified as a Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) at the Gold Status. This certification reflects our consideration of the unique needs of your feline companions. The AAFP established the Cat Friendly Practice program to help veterinary practices meet the needs of cats in a veterinary practice setting.

An extensive self-assessment checklist was designed to demonstrate that Cat Friendly Practices:

  • Understand the unique needs of cats and have made veterinary visits more cat-friendly.
  • Understand how to approach and handle cats in a gentle, empathetic and caring manner.
  • Have an appropriate standard of equipment needed to investigate and treat feline patients.
  • Meets a standard for the facilities and care for hospitalized cats.
